Established about 350 years ago, Ganso Shigenoya is a café that has long been visited by those worshiping at Kumano Kotai Shrine. The specialty is “Chikara Mochi,” made with 100% glutinous rice from Nagano Prefecture. The options include anko (sweet red bean paste), kinako (roasted soybean flour), and goma (sesame), all of which are delicious and hard to choose from. Besides mochi, you can also enjoy Usui soba and soft serve ice cream. With terrace and table seating, the terrace is particularly popular for its beautiful scenery. When visiting with small children, it’s recommended to use the tatami seating.

Kita-Karuizawa Jikozoba Minori is a restaurant run by a local farmer, offering seasonal ingredients and soba. The soba flour used for the soba is self-milled with two millstones in the restaurant, blended and finished with Asama Mountain’s natural water in a 80/20 ratio. The rich flavor of soba can be enjoyed with one bite. There are various ways to eat, including with walnuts and egoma, allowing you to choose according to your preference. The seasonal tempura is also voluminous and can be shared. In addition to table seating, there is also tatami seating, making it more comfortable for families with young children.
